(45,806 posts)how they're trained and socialized. U grew up with my grandparents having a pitbull. His name was cotton because he was completely black with a little tuft of white fur on his chest. I barely remember when I was about 3, playing with Cotton, laying on him, hugging him as hard as I could then, and Cotton was just an easy going happy dog who never growled or backed away from any of us grandkids. I currently have a Bichon & a Lab. Both were raised in a loving manner and socialized at a very young age, and now that they're older (7 & 13) they have no problem with anyone. I've many times said the Bichon will lick you to fdeath, and the lab meets visitors at the door with a toy in her mouth, just wanting to play all the time. There are people who buy Pitbulls for no other reason by to train them to be a junk yard dog. Umfprtunately, those are the ones who make the news and people's opinions.
