And the fact of the matter is, they are socially liberal and centrist on just about every other issue. Voting Republican is just what everyone does where they live (Kansas City - Kansas Side), it's the 'conservative' thing to do. It's been the same way for 50 years.
My Mom has expressed frustration with the state Republicans she has voted for for the past 8 years. Unfortunately it's always after the election. There are LOTS of non-fundy Republican voters in Kansas City, but very few non-fundy republican candidates.
I'm working on both of my parents, maybe it's time to start working on all of these wishy-washy republicans? Seems like a good time for it as their party spirals down the drain.
