(204 posts)What the CDC study was looking for was not binary (ie. received vaccine and got autism score 1; did not receive vaccine and did not get autism score 0) but rather if increasing antigen dose showed a higher prevalence of autism diagnosis. The study was pretty clear in its findings - that increasing antigen dose doesn't show an increase in the prevalence in autism.
Autism, like most diseases is a complex mixture of genetics and environment. In other words, as has been posted before some kids receiving vaccines may get autism and the vaccine may have pushed the child's body to begin the disease process called autism, but in addition to the vaccines a multitude of factors led to autism. Extrapolating slightly, I doubt vaccines are a major contributor to the development of autism. More likely a coincidence!
