(72,766 posts)I have no doubt your father was a wonderful man. Smoking didn't make him a monster; it just made him a wonderful man who was poisoning himself and anyone within breathing distance. I don't think it's wrong to want people to improve their health. It's kind of why I got into this profession. But it's hard to stay polite these days. There is no one alive who doesn't know that smoking is bad for them. And yet, people take up the habit every day, in defiance of every sound scientific study known to man.
As I posted above, it's the preventable diseases that drive me crazy. They don't have to happen. A little medical education, a little counseling, a little compliance with a treatment plan, and all is done. But it's those few, small easy steps that people refuse to take.
It's crazy-making...
