5. Chained CPI has another effect

You know that annual adjusting for inflation that's done for personal exemptions, standard deductions, and the very tax brackets themselves? If chained CPI is applied to them, it results in a gradual increase in income taxes for those who pay them.

That's why the Rethugs may think twice on applying this. It seems like the only way out of this is gridlock.
