SSI has nothing to do with the deficit or debt. It makes no political sense to piss off your base on something as dear to Americans as SSI. What is gained by offering Chained CPI to the Republicans? Nothing but it does give Pete Petersen, Erskin Bowles, Alan Simpsons, Republicans and the 1% who are raping this country blind tingles in their spines.
