14. It's because Jewish is a tribal identity as well as a religion.

Christians don't have that uhm... flexibility. I sometimes say I'm a Jewish atheist. My rabbi is an atheist too, but I only see him at atheist and ACLU meetups.

BTW, there are over a hundred secular synagogs in the US.
