(20,317 posts)I remember one episode with an older couple that had more of a cooperative approach to the whole thing. They'd organized their community around a rough plan of how to support themselves in an emergency. One family farmed a couple of items, one kept bees and learned to make other items... and they'd do it together. It was more about building a sustainable community, and they seemed to be having fun doing it.
When they were asked what they'd do if the infamous 'motorcycle marauders' came hunting them (lol), they were kind of confused at why they should worry about it. They said something to the effect of, we'd invite them to pitch in. And if they didn't want to... well, there were like 30 of these people. What did they have to worry about?
Anyway, the show gave them a low "score" specifically because they didn't have an arsenal and a fortified position. It was silly.
