But I'd gladly chime in on other topics like Ireland, Pakistan, the Crusades, etc. but my purpose was to stay in context.

Nota bene: you may notice that my post did not assign any blame other than religion in general. In that respect I was quite ecumenical. Both the Palestinians and Israel are equally to blame. It's interesting that you presumed that I was somehow against Israel, when I thought I was fairly clear that it's both side's problem.

Religion is the problem in Israel/Palestine. As it was in Lebanon, and the former Yugoslavia, and in Ireland, and in Pakistan/India, and Sri Lanka, and ad infinitum.

Surely, I don't have to bring up the US Republican Party here as yet another exemplar, do I?

The mixture of religion and government is universally poisonous. Always!
