(37,648 posts)40. I don't know. But the theory is valid (Atlantis, not Bigfoot).
It's just a theory and maybe cannot be proven or disproven. But the object of science is to look at things empirically (did I spell that correctly?). Literature sometimes refers to real people and real places with fictitious names. So scientists take a look at that, and find a place and a people that seem very much like Atlantis and its people, with some evidence of what happened to it (I think it was destroyed by a volcano? I can't recall the details.)
It was an interesting documentary.
