follow our leaders like sheep. When they do wrong, they get called out for it.
This is the way a democracy should work.
i don't believe anything I read on DU came to the point of people "hating" Obama. But this was truly an unexpected move that made many of us who had heard the president state time and again that "SS would not be on the table." Then with no provocation, he put it on the table.

Now even if he backs off his offer, he has made the Democrats the party that wants to mess with SS and Medicare. When the Repubs were on the verge of a true ass-kicking in 2014, he gave them the best lifeline he could.

Hate Obama? Far from it. Willing to tell truth to power? Absolutely. And he fucked this one up good.

Personally, I think you all those of us who have questioned Obama an apology for saying we "hate" him.

Sadly recent politics has taken away much of the flexibility people once had. Now we are expected to follow blindly else we give the opponent a hand. I won't ever follow blindly.
Obama knew how damaging this would be or he would have pushed it during the campaign.
