(57,936 posts)It's a matter of expecting him to stand for the basic tenets of the Democratic Party and human rights and jobs.
He's weak on all of these issues. He did not show this face until after he won re-election. And it's not a pretty face.
He is still a guy with a great smile, a beautiful voice who at least seems to really care about people.
But that does not feed people. It doesn't provide for our veterans or for seniors. It doesn't insure our privacy. It doesn't insure our constitutional right to a trial and habeas corpus when accused of a crime. It does not help our economy. In fact it will seriously harm it.
Being a great guy is just not enough.
Everybody likes him as a human being. Most of us worked hard to get him re-elected. But chained CPI -- cutting Social Security is the latest in a series of horrible policy proposals from the Obama administration. It's piling up. And now we are completely frustrated. Seems all our work, all our effort is for absolutely nothing.
If anything is disillusioning, it is having someone you volunteer for during many hours that you could spend doing something else, turn against you as Obama has.
If you really are a liberal historian, you may have seen historical precedents for this. It isn't good to betray your base, to turn against those who have worked for you loyally and without pay. Obama owes us all a huge, huge, huge apology and some changes in his fundamental policies.
