(75,480 posts)watching Oliver Stone's history series on Showtime. Although I was alive during those times, I was a preschool child. I do remember the talk about war and Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and all that and I was familiar with the name of Henry Wallace our Veep at the time. What I didn't know was that Wallace was a liberal Democrat in the style of Paul Wellstone. He made speeches in favor of labor, unions and the poor and poor working class. Now here is the clincher. Even though he had been Roosevelt's Veep during all the tough times, the depression and the war, he fell out of favor with the PTB in the Democratic Party. This is why Harry Truman became Roosevelts Veep for his fourth term. This was in 1944.

My jaw dropped at that. I did not know this. None of my history classes taught this. But apparently this is not new. The DLC style Democrats have been in charge since way back then and if you didn't know how to play politics with them, you find yourself on the outside looking in. It's time for a big Party cleaning IMHO or they are going to lose people like you and we will be left with Republican Lite then.
