4. I think you are right about the people. But we have been very apathic, and I agree with the OP

the 'left' which, like you I believe is in the majority, have been too complacent. I guess we needed to see what is going on now, the attacks on the social safety nets, the continuing Bush policies etc to realize that it's way past time for the majority to get up and start exercising the power we have. And I believe that is finally beginning to happen.

Lefties, contrary to the false image portrayed by the Right, are tough. Once we are committed to something there is no stopping us.

While I am thoroughly disgusted with the current state of affairs, I am feeling very excited for the first time, feeling freer to work for the PEOPLE rather than any specific politician, especially one I am not all that thrilled with out of fear of Republicans, and making sure all my support goes to the most liberal, progressive candidates we can find.
