Arizona elected racist governor Evan Mecham in 1986, was the absolute last state to support the celebration of MLK Day, Maricopa County has elected Joe Arpaio in a landslide every four years since 1992, and Jan Brewer's poll numbers in the state skyrocketed after she tried implementing the "papers, please"-style ID law back in 2010.

I lived in Arizona for 6 years and I heard just about every racist word there is, mainly against Mexicans and African Americans.

To provide yet another example, the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964. Arizonan Barry Goldwater vehemently opposed it and is regarded as a hero to this day in Arizona. You know how the Republicans want to name everything after Reagan? Well, that's how it is in Arizona with Goldwater.

Let's just take a look at the results of the 1964 election, shall we?
