148. I Knew A 9 Year Old

adorable kid, lived down the street from me. He was mildly autistic but an amazing artist - he use to knock on my door looking for his kitty. Then last year his dad picked him up - took him to the mountains and blew their brains out.

There's a tree at his school up the street that was planted in his name. The day of the tree planting I heard some of the children express how scary it has been for them. Imagine that, children are scared and more and more of them will know a peer who has been a victim of gun violence. I read that many of the kids at Sandy Hook still can't sleep or wake up screaming.

I wonder if the responsible gun owners ever consider what all this is doing to our kids psyche. Probably not, they only care about their precious pieces of metal and a piece of paper written years ago when muskets were the weapon of choice.

I see his mom when she takes her daily walk by herself - she still looks miserable.
