The message in the OP has been openly promoted by others on DU. For some, hatred, stigmatization and dehumanization are now the order of the day. And it is done in the name of some higher morality which must certainly go beyond the ideals of liberalism and progressive thought; in fact, inclusion of the children of the hated Other as enemies suggests an almost cult-like disposition.

Thus won't drive away those supporting 2A, but it may very well drive away many progressives from DU who now must slog through every mean-spirited expression of animosity over the issue of guns in an effort to revitalize the Democratic Party. Perhaps that is the real reason for the open hatred and demand for legitimizing that hatred. The gun ban extremists can't rid themselves of progressive gun-owners, and they can't do anything about an increasingly corporate Democratic Party, so they lash out at Monsters of their own creation.

Fellow DUers need to seriously consider where this raw hatred is taking a once-leading web- voice of liberal-left thought. It's suffusing more than just a group or two. It's creeping into a lot more.
