Controlling the behavior of women. If it was rape, then that's OK, murder of the fetus is OK. Suddenly it's not the human life aspect of it. So you're right, at least the fundies who say it's God's will to give birth because it's a new life are consistent. The others are not and reveal that what they really seek is giving birth as some sort of punishment (which of course the girl can be relieved of if "not guilty" of having sex).
