94. Yes, they are. Profiling is done by experts, regardless of who suspects likely are.

If you watch those true crime shows, you'll see that. There are experts who profile perpetrators of certain kinds of crimes. For instance, I saw an expert (or two) explain the profiling for serial killers...part of the profile is that they are usually WHITE.

Profiling is not a reason police can stop a person, without any cause. But it's useful for law enforcement to have a profile for certain kinds of crimes, so that they can focus their investigation and know what they are likely looking for.

You do profiling, too, probably. For example, when the bombings happened and you thought about who could've done that...I'm gonna guess you probably did NOT think it was a woman. That's because terrorists are almost always (but not always)...male. And usu. young males.
