(7,309 posts)40. One of the many reasons why torture is counterproductive.
It incentivizes criminals/terrorists to not surrender peacefully. Instead, he'll probably commit suicide rather than face waterboarding for extended periods of time.
If we treated prisoners like human beings (even if they don't act like human beings), then they may trust our justice system.
