(48,223 posts)17. Why I cancelled cable and have no interest in satellite
Everything I could ever want to watch is available from one of the following sources:
1. Over the air, especially PBS. It comes in in crystal-clear HD in my neighborhood.
2. Streaming over the Roku for Netflix, Hulu Plus, Acorn TV, and couple of other channels.
3. DVDs, especially the ones I have ordered from overseas branches of Amazon for use on my multi-region player.
4. For more recent cable fare that gets good word-of-mouth, I download from iTunes and watch on my iPad.

We hardly turn on the TV, unless it's to watch a DVD, a VHS (yeah, so what?) or something on Netflix
