It didn't take long for the right to start bashing Boston and Bostonians [View all]

So much for solidarity.

Before long the criticism of Bostonians as cowering wimps emerged. Unflattering comparisons of Massachusetts residents and red staters with guns are common in the wingnut internet world and in right wing periodicals. You know: Texans would never have allowed themselves to be penned in like sheep and run roughshod over by the fascist police, FBI and ATF. They would have gone a-terrorist-huntin' with their prized guns.

The "Boston Strong" meme is being mocked: “Boston Strong” = “Arbeit Macht Frei!". Big Papi is under fire for saying "This our fucking city" when there were (gasp) children present.

The pious prayers for those wounded swiftly evolved into nasty criticism of Boston and liberals for enabling "evil Muslims" and others, for being tolerant and for embracing multiculturalism.

Nope. Didn't take long at all.
