(20,709 posts)How about running the top 30 nations in HDI. These seem like a pretty decent group of "first-world" nations.

(1) United States 0.937 0.003
(1) Netherlands 0.921 0.002
(3) Germany 0.920 0.004
(1) New Zealand 0.919 0.002

Iceland 0.906 0.005
(1) Denmark 0.901 0.002
(1) Israel 0.900 0.004
(1) Belgium 0.897 0.001
(1) Austria 0.895 0.003
(8) Singapore 0.895 0.003

Spain 0.885 0.001
(16) Liechtenstein
(1) Italy 0.881
(1) Luxembourg 0.875

(1) Czech Republic 0.873 0.002
Greece 0.860 0.006
(2) Brunei Darussalam
Maybe drop Greece and Brunei, greece because of the recent turmoil, and Brunei because it's Brunei.
If you're in the mood, you can also try running another regression including HDI as a control, and see what happens.
