Seriously you could have at least begun a conversation like i'm leaving 3 how about you? Maybe you could then have segued into how much the waitperson earns or offered to add your own funds and guilted them into doing the right thing.

Not tipping a worker serving you for $2 bucks an hour is no better than stealing from her or him. Hell that waitperson can not even afford to eat at that restaurant that you think of as an average eatery.

I hope you at least left a piece of your sandwich on your plate for her to take home to her kids.
