IT people in particular (but business people in general) get so used to talking with each other in this shorthand that uses alternative meanings to common words that they forget to revert back to regular meanings when talking to us more technically average folks. At least there seems to be less leveraging of synergies lately (or maybe I don't notice it because I changed careers).
