12. We had strong winds yesterday

~40 mph. It pushes the ice until it hits the shore. The wave action of the open water behind the ice continues underneath until it also reaches the shore where it lifts the ice just a little. Since the wind is still pushing, the wave's upheaval of the ice allows it to move onto shore. repetition pushes it father from the water.

I did not see this one in person but have been at other lakes when it has happened. It is very impressive, cool and one of the most freaky things I have ever seen.
