Respect the fact that I don't think...

No, you can say "you have to respect my opinion" or you can try to elucidate why you think the analogy does not work (Though I think the analogy is apt). You cannot imply 'fact' when what you mean is opinion.

Moreover Steeles suggestion that they are not analagous is idiotic. We are not talking about prejudist feelings or thoughts or even de facto discrimination. We are talking about De Jure discrimination by law. This form of discrimination by law exists by category without regard to whether someone recognizes whether you are black or gay when you walk into a room. This discrimination is about basic human rights, not about whether someone doesn't like you.

Steele is a moron.
