(15,448 posts)I highly doubt Benghazi even gets close to that level.
Two weeks before it happened, I was waiting at a MAC terminal in Dover and got hit up for dinner and $20 by a personable red-headed Navy corpsman assigned to that battalion trying to get back after leave (he didn't have the $10 it would have cost him to leave CONUS on a comfortable overseas hop and I have a soft spot in my heart for gingers).
He called me when he got there three days before the bombing, and he was talking about getting over to the left coast for Christmas (his grandparents lived in NorCal) and maybe think about California when it came to his upcoming duty rotation so we could maybe get together ... but I never heard from him again.
Saw his name listed in the Navy Times later that month, though...he never made it to visit his grandparents for Christmas that year as he was planning. Forever 25 years old.
So, you were White House Chief of Staff during the Nixon years - during Vietnam and the cover-ups in Cambodia. You were a member of Congress between 1978 - 1989, when you took over as SecDef for Bush 41. Lots of stuff happened during those years. Lots of really bad incidents, cover-ups and other mis-conduct by people in the executive branch. Incidents with national implications, that changed the course of history for the worse.
Not to mention all those "little" incidents that happened under your watch - terrorist attacks, outing of CIA assets that crippled National Security, a slew of embassy bombings, torture "justification", the patriot Act and other Constitutionally suspect activities -
So, Benghazi is really the "Worse Incident you can recall in your career". With no respect towards you at all, "sir", I will say to your face - You're a fu**ing psychopathic liar.
Or do you just have Alzheimer's and can't remember anything but the "happy stuff" prior to your last cardiac overhaul.
