(150,921 posts)18. One reason for many black people not learning to swim
is that most of the schools they attended as children, historically, have no swimming pool. Swimming must be taught to humans. If it is not taught, they do not learn to swim.

I have known adults who seemed absolutely incapable of swimming or even floating.
