7. I barely remember the Florida I was born in

Tallahassee, 1963. I grew up in Texas through my teen years and came back here in my early 20s.

I've lived in my current house for almost 26 years and have watched the orange groves right down the street get bulldozed in favor of subdivisions that I can't afford to live in (and, apparently, neither can the people who originally bought into them as a lot of once filled houses have For Sale signs in front of them.).

I love being able to play golf in December and I love Air Conditioning when I'm not playing golf.

Orange county voted blue last time around and I hope it does again. I'll do my part.

I get good concert tours come through and I'm only an hour and a half away from professional football and baseball and I don't care about basketball. There's a store that sells beer from all over the world and I have 2 great German restaurants nearby and tons of cuban restaurants and a good pizza place that delivers. For special occasions I can get a damn fine aged steak and a damn fine aged scotch at the same place.

My wife was born and raised here so we have plenty of family (so far - but it's dwindling) nearby. My Grandpa lives 45 minutes away so I get to see him a lot more than when I was kid and as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't get any better than that. My grandpa is my personal hero.

And there are enough wackjobs here to keep it interesting.

There's a lot of Florida that needs fixin but I like it enough I wanna stay and try.
