(2,983 posts)My Father said the same thing the other day - right after he bought a couple tickets. I think it's part of the draw, part of the fantasy. With a million dollars, most people could get out of debt, or get a new house, or quit their jobs... with six hundred million, you and your family could live like royalty for the rest of your lives. One million dollars is a lot of money, but it's the idea of having truly enormous amounts that sells so many tickets.
It depends on perspective, too. Someone who earns, say, one hundred thousand a year might not be so excited about winning a million (sure, they'd take it) but they'd be bouncing in their seats at the idea of six hundred million.
Your idea is more fair - and I like it better, but... I don't think that's a change that will be applied any time in the near future.
