16. First we alienated African Americans

Beginning in 1968, we used the "Southern Strategy" and catered to ugly, deep seeded racism and anger over the passage of Civil Rights legislation by calling it an appeal to Americans who wanted "law and order."

Next, we made an unholy alliance with the Christian Right to push their theocratic ideas off as "Family Values". We made it OK to be vocally and violently anti-Gay by falling back on 4 references in the entire Bible and we showed out contempt for women by shooting down the ERA Amendment and trying to turn all women back to a "Stepford Wife version of June Cleaver."

Since the 1980's we've tried to scapegoat hispanic immigrants escaping poverty and brutal dictators (In most cases that we supported and propped up) as the root of all of working people's economic woos. All the while, it was our polices that cut taxes for the rich, cut workers wages, reaped huge profits, and moved American jobs overseas.

In the 21st Century we showed disdain for intellectual ideas and denied science even as the planet began to rapidly melt. We even tried to bring back Jim and "Juan Crow Laws" and went so far as to rig via electronic voting machines

By 2012, the American people finally caught on and we alienated so many different groups that there was no one left to vote for us anymore.
