Your thoughts about the Rock Center show last night on alleged JFK affair with intern? [View all]
I have to admit I did watch. I don't think it's really any secret that JFK was a womanizer and to their credit the media, which certainly knew of his activities, didn't report about them because they felt (at that time) that a politicians personal life was not relevant as long as it didn't interfer with how they conducted their job. By most accounts JFK was a president who gave a great deal of thought to problems and measured responses. His 'duty' persona vs his 'off duy' (if a president is ever really off duty?) rather careless (carefree) private affairs.
I thought the woman was credible and she said she wasn't ashamed of what she did--she was actually struggling with maintaining a secret until it was revealed in a book by Robert Dalleck in 2005. She feels keeping it bottled up was more of a problem than the affair itself.
The only thing I was really appalled by is when JFK asked her to give his aide, Dave Powers, a blow job--and she did. She is now ashamed she did so and wishes she had told JFK, No. A year later, he suggested she do the same thing, she claims, to Ted Kennedy, and this time she did tell him no.
