(297 posts)I find the "gun" equivocating equally appalling. I gun has no motive, no free will, no anything but the potential to do harm. A gun requires a catalyst to do anything. The pit bull on the other hand is an animal. The pitt bull not longer resembles the original AKC breed. The pit bull as it is now known is a product of breeding practices. This breeding practice has resulted in an unstable and unpredictable breed of animal. While your animal might be fine in an one owner one dog relationship, the breed in general has been proven unpredictable. In this case the statistics don't lie.
Dogs get loose, people have company over, people bring newborns into the home. It is a shame that the apologists can't come to grips with reality. You can not predict how your pit bull will act tomorrow any more than you can predict the weather on mars. Yet I am sure you will try. If only the rest of us had the prognostication powers of the average pit bull apologist, just think what we could accomplish.
