(111,255 posts)that would work with a deaf cat: picking her up and setting her down on the floor for bad behavior like nipping (she'd been abused, so this was a big deal), not allowing her back up for a full five minutes; using a squirt gun when she'd get into something she shouldn't; and a one fingered, gentle tap on the nose when she did something dangerous like go after an electrical cord.
She no longer nips unless I'm trying to get rid of her dreadlocks and it hurts. She no longer plays with electrical cords and I haven't had to use the squirt gun in ages, I think it's probably gone dry wherever it is. Best of all, she's no longer head shy and afraid of any hand that comes near her.
I think you can also look to your older cat to teach this little one some manners.
