(8,636 posts)46. Beckerhead's Beckistan will almost certainly be all-white
Glenn Beck is still dreaming of his own 'ideal community,' Independence Park or as it's become known to everyone else: Glennbeckistan.
Wonkette did a great dissection of this: Glennbeckistan: Your Libertarian-Commune Paradise Awaits:
That not-at-all earthshaking announcement apparently bought Beck only a couple days of the news cycle, because now hes back again to tell us all about his new dream, his vision for the future, his awesome planned community that will be totally libertarian yet totally communal:
On his program last night, Beck revealed that his intention to go Galt is quite literal, unveiling grandiose plans to create an entirely self-sustaining community called Independence Park that will provide its own food and energy, produce television and film content, host research and development, serve as a marketplace for products and ideas, while also housing a theme park and serving as a residential community.
Treehugger also has some fun with Beck's version of "Galt Gulch:" Glenn Beck's Independence Park: Utopia or Crazy Town:
One might even think that Beck had become a fan of Agenda 21, which he has called a UN plot to take over America. This town has all the buzzwords: sustainable, resilient, common good, quality of life, livable communities.
Then it all falls apart. Beck says the wind turbines were put in the drawing "just to piss me off." There is a theme park where you play cowboys and indians. A giant mountain is really a huge digital screen. There will be a media center and movie studio making "decent" shows; Beck says Little House on the Prairie is too racy for him. You don't get to buy what you want: "Theres not going to be a Gap here. Theres no Ann Taylor. You want Ann Taylor, go someplace else."
It turns out that the Libertarian paradise is just about the most controlling, un-free, unlibertarian place you can think of, a giant two billion dollar theme park that is little different from Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's Heritage USA
Which is a shame, because here is something really seductive about utopian communities. This is Crazytown.
Yeah, Beckerhead really believes he can raise a cool two billion to build this monstrosity!
I almost forgot to mention the church patterned after the Alamo.

Isn't it weird how all of these comments are pathological psychological defense mechanisms?

I agree. It's not racist to report, accurately, that some people ARE racists and will boycott.
