Some idiots took control of Pacifica and wanted to make it more like NPR.
In particular, they wanted to attract corporate financing and corporate listeners,
which meant getting rid of programs like Amy's, as well as the more eclectic programs they were known for.
They purged a lot of good programmers, including Amy Goodman.
But she kept producing her programs, they were played on independent radio stations and college stations.
For a while Roy Tuckman at KPFK played her show at 5am calling it "The Amy Goodman Hour"
(he has a radio show from midnight to 6 am, and technically it was "Democracy Now" that was banned).
