10. is supposed to be the people

But in the future, assume those in power (Rs & Ds) want to be above the people. Spying would be a very useful tool in making sure the people are not able to elect replacements. It would be very useful to shut down the tea parties, or progressive parties, or any other party before they even get close to a significant size. Once they have the patterns to identify a potential party forming, they can harass/frame/blackmail the leaders enough to keep them from making progress.

That is why spying is not acceptable. It has nothing to do with me not wanting the government to know what medical problems I have, or the IRS to know what lifestyle I'm leading, or even if I'm having an affair. It's about whether the government can find out those things about the future leader who would be able to take the government back for the people if only the government doesn't stop him/her before developing a following. One thing I can do to help that person is to demand my privacy even though I have nothing to hide.
