Sure, it's possible that PRISM is merely a way to securely transfer files, even though the slides presented it as a data collection program and did not present it as a program to ensure the security of file transfers (did it talk about this in the slides at all?). And yeah, maybe other companies didn't want to transfer files securely because...some reason...and used other methods, even though you seemed to think using other methods was silly when you wrote "What would you expect them to do? Mail the data to the NSA?" And maybe someone could make the argument that collection directly from the servers is not the same as direct access to the servers. I'm not sure how that argument would be made, but maybe it's possible.

But that is a hell of a lot of speculation that seems to fly in the face of what the slides were actually saying.
