(37,648 posts)I think it's great that girls are learning to use weapons, and not just boys. Girls need to learn self-defense, protection, CARS, how things are put together, how to mow the lawn, etc. All those things I had to teach myself as an adult or pick up from friends and other family members along the way.
I did learn how to sew when I was a girl, and that came in handy. Boys should learn that, too. And I learned basic cooking skills, but really, learning basic cooking skills is something that hasn't come in that handy. Yeah, I cook some basic things, but it's so easy that learning this as a child is unnecessary, unless you want to be an excellent cook (which I don't care about).
Learning basic plumbing, electrical work, a little about cars, will save girls a bundle of money over the years. Learning to shoot a gun comes in handy, when it comes to self protection (she'll be a target of rapists & other criminals for much of her life). Learning to make soup? Meh...throw some stuff in a pot with chicken stock, turn the heat on, and you have soup. But it's pretty cheap to buy, anyway.
