(22,057 posts)48. We have two "rescue yard" cats. One will come inside and upstairs but just for a few hours
The other freaks if the kitchen door even closes. Both have been neutered and one gets meds. Our yard is fenced in and as long as they stay close, they're protected. I don't know how to do more than that.

I have noticed that hunting drops precipitously in cats more than about five years old .

Yep. My cat is 15 now. She hasn't hunted anything in ages. She caught mice when younger.

My kitty mostly sleeps and eats. She's a good mouser and leaves her trophies in the kitchen doorway
