for management of extreme pain, particularly that suffered by late-stage terminal cancer patients. Current law forces them to substitute fentanyl, a synthetic narcotic that is actually more addictive, more toxic, and more debilitating to the patient, but less effective at relieving the extreme pain caused by the final breakdown of the body's major organs.

And for what it's worth, cocaine is already legal when prescribed as a local anesthetic, most commonly used for oral and ocular surgery.
