seems like war records have hurt candidates not helped them recently. Bush vs. Clinton. Then Clinton vs. Dole. Then Bush vs. Gore. Then Bush vs. Kerry. Finally Obama vs. McCain. If the media loves a war record then the candidate with the weak war record wouldn't have such an easy time of late. The problem is so few Americans (relative) serve these days that the voting public doesn't hold it against a candidate. Plus it is not like the war have exactly been popular. Even gulf war service doesn't get the props from the media. You had Palin and Biden sending kids to fight and Romney sending his kids to safety and the voting public just doesn't seem to care.
