by the Nazis, which actually was a political party within many political parties. They just made sure that its Constitution, a very liberal one, became impotent as a governing document kind of like the Bush administration did with ours. It was the allies who overthrew the Weimar Republic, not the Nazis. Dick Cheney could have written "Mein Kampf" himself with the exception of the Jew and Slav hating parts. He substituted terrorists for those "enemies" Hitler outlined instead.

I have said before that if "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" had been assigned reading in high school when studying the WWII era, there would be no tolerance today for water boarding, indefinite detention, domestic spying and any number of other abuses against true liberty and freedom that Americans seem to be okay with today, just because our three branches of government say it's okay.
