(57,936 posts)It results in giving the executive a position of metaknowledge about the lives and interests of our members of Congress, their staffs, wives, kids, lovers, business associates to say nothing of the information about all members of the third separate power of government, the judiciary. If you can map a person's electronic communications in this day and age, you know all about their most intimate weaknesses, relationships, etc. and you can control them. Sushi or Italian? The beach or the theatre? Tastes are tools through which people can be predicted and controlled.
In addition, this program harms the rest of us because it chills the exercise of the rights guaranteed in the Constitution.
It conflicts with the constitutional design and therefore, in my view is illegal. This program poses a tremendous danger to our Constitution and our way of life.
