African Americans being purged from voting, we sign petitions, demonstrate, and write our asses off expressing our opinions and the country continues to drift further away from representing us. In fact it has become vogue to ridicule anyone questioning or wishing to dialogue with our representatives, and this is creating an equal but opposite reaction from those needing to be heard.
Not having a voice has inspired hecklers, hackers, whistleblowers-- because all other options are off the table!! When peaceful dissent becomes illegal, Democracy has had a systems failure. And the only response government comes up with is to vilify, character assassinate and ridicule--not to mention intimidate and punish the people who risk their lives to get the truth out. Many of these people have TRIED to appeal up the chain of command and failed, which inspired the next generation of dissenters to go rogue. Now no one can complain about anything. Domestic threats will not be addressed, it is a recipe for abuse.
For me, it is easier to call this a systems failure. As much as I despise the RW personalities that brought it on, I have equal respect for President Obama as an individual. I admire people for their loyalty to him, and are well aware of what having an African American as president means to people who have struggled to have any representation or dignity in this country, as well as the historic significance. And I am aware of the outright racism that saturates the mainstream and tabloid media--I find it deeply disturbing. But I find it even MORE disturbing to wonder WHAT could make a man do a 180 on principles he spent a lifetime developing. What happened to him??? I have a failing loyalty too-- and would rather think he is surrounded by crooks, it is the way I'm dealing with it. You can't go against the NSA.
The POLICIES being put into place have highest chance of being turned against minorities, gays, women and foreigners. I am a humanitarian and cannot betray my conscience. So call me names I don't care.
