19. What we've been lacking

are strong charismatic Democratic leaders who are well known statewide. I think there are a lot of closet Democrats in Texas who don't think it's worth their time and energy to vote because they are used to seeing Democrats lose. This event last night makes me hopeful that maybe we will have something to build on, even though I fully expect Perry to call another special session where this bill that went down last night will probably pass. That's just the kind of guy he is. But between Wendy Davis and the Castro brothers, we are at least starting to see some glimmers of hope that things in Texas may change for the better in the long run.
