I offered to do it for free. But they wouldn't let me. I believe I actually spent more time figuring out how to calculate my taxes than I spent on that job.

Since the self-employment tax was the same as the employer and employee shares of FICA, I assume the self-employment tax is in place of FICA.

Self-employment tax is *in addition* to the regular income tax. Your tax bill looks pretty big then. Assuming, of course, you report your income.
