Why bother? Flip a coin, it would be just as representative!

Of course, Iowa and NH make a BUNDLE off their little contests--all those taxes from hotel receipts, restaurant tabs, bar bills, etc--it's in the millions, and it makes a difference to their economies, which is why they persist with their contests and their insistence on maintaining their place in the pecking order.

I can't see the point of Maine's little exercise, though--fewer than six thousand people making the call? That's just dumb.
