12. But Has A Tide Been Turned?...

...I ask this in all sincerity. Sen. Davis' filibuster was inspiring but will that lead to future action or will the moment be squandered? We saw people power in action in Austin like we did in Madison and Columbus, but will that have an effect in getting rid of the root cause of these problems: rushpublican state legislators. These are the ones who are bringing up these draconian bills or just slipping them into other legislation and are the foot soldiers for a lot of the right wing attacks on all sorts of civil liberties. While Senator Davis is a rising star and hopefully will be a credible gubernatorial candidate in the future, will the momentum she's help get going continue into next year's election and lead to the ouster of some of the right wingers in the Texas legislature. And this question goes to other states, including Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio where there's been a lot of protests against the overreach of the rushpublicans.

If progressives and liberals aren't happy with the state of things...the place to start is at the bottom and work on up...
